Abstract

IT certifications play a critical role across various professional domains, particularly in the field of project management. Among the most recognized IT certifications related to project management are those offered by organizations such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the International Project Management Association (IPMA). Rapid technological advancement, the growing demand for broadband access, and increasing user expectations further highlight the importance of effective project management within the ISP sector. Given the complexity of processes in this sector, including handling service requests, designing technical solutions, obtaining necessary approvals, executing infrastructure works, and connecting end users to the network, the application of standardized methodologies is essential to ensure a structured approach and timely project delivery. This paper presents research on the application of project management competencies in a real-world ISP business environment. It examines the extent to which project managers apply acquired knowledge and skills from IT certifications, evaluates the tangible contribution of such certifications to project performance, and analyzes the impact of certification on income levels compared to non-certified project managers. The findings, based on research conducted among employees of an ISP company, indicate that professional IT certifications in project management significantly influence both the perception and practical performance of project managers. The results provide valuable insight into the role of certifications in enhancing daily operational effectiveness as well as supporting long-term professional development.
